Recently, due to the strong influx of warm air, many parts of Japan experienced summer scenes in March, breaking multiple temperature records.
According to the Yomiuri Shimbun on March 26th, the temperature in the center of Tokyo reached 25.9 ℃ around 10 am that day, marking the third occurrence of a "summer" phenomenon in Tokyo this month. The so-called 'summer' refers to the highest daily temperature between 25 ℃ and 29 ℃. For the first time since observational records began in 1875, Tokyo experienced three days of "summer" temperatures in March. At the crossroads in Shibuya, Tokyo, many pedestrians take off their jackets and many tourists wear short sleeves to travel.
Experts say that in the past 150 years, the highest temperature in March in central Tokyo has exceeded 25 ℃ only 8 times, and most of them have occurred in the past two years. In March 2024, Tokyo experienced two "summers".
On March 26th, the Japan Meteorological Agency observed that temperatures in some areas of Miyazaki and Oita prefectures reached over 30 ℃, ushering in Japan's first "peak summer" of the year. 'Summer heat' refers to the highest daily temperature between 30 ℃ and 34 ℃, which is the first time in 26 years that Japan has experienced a 'summer heat' in March. According to Sing Tao Global Network, Yume Village in Sawa City, Oita Prefecture, and Takako cho in Miyazaki Prefecture measured 30.3 ℃, while Nishi City in Miyazaki Prefecture recorded 30.2 ℃ and Miyazaki Airport recorded 30 ℃. Nishi City in Miyazaki Prefecture was the first to soar 30.2 ℃ at 1:10 pm, breaking the 26 year record.
According to reports from Japanese media such as Kyodo News and Mainichi Shimbun, the Japan Meteorological Agency explained on the 26th that warm air is flowing towards a low-pressure system near northern Japan, and the weather is clear, causing temperatures to rise in various regions. The temperature in 143 places across Japan has reached a new high in March.
This summer in many parts of Japan has broken multiple temperature records, and this unusually high temperature weather deserves close attention from all parties to the issue of climate change.
