Around 3:00 pm local time on the 23rd, a forest fire broke out in Minami ku, Okayama City, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. As of 0:00 on the 24th, the burnt area has reached 111 hectares, and 6 buildings including residences and warehouses have been burned down. There have been no reports of any injuries. Okayama City has issued evacuation instructions to 893 people and opened shelters. ​
The fire is still spreading and firefighting operations are ongoing. According to subsequent reports, as of 7am local time on the 24th, the fire has spread to Tamano City in Okayama Prefecture, with the burned area expanding to about 250 hectares. The fire department continues to carry out firefighting operations, and the Japanese Self Defense Force has also dispatched helicopters to participate in aerial watering operations.
