Recently, a report published by the Russian newspaper "Izvestia" on the 11th has attracted widespread attention. The Russian independent non-governmental organization "Digital Platform" found through investigation that about one-third of Russian minors have developed a series of symptoms known as "digital neurosis" due to excessive dependence on electronic tools such as smartphones, such as irritability, dropping out of school, and addiction to short video live streaming.
This survey covered Russian minors aged 6-18, and the results showed that one-third of them were negatively affected by electronic social gaming platforms and other factors. Of particular note is that children aged 6-10 are more susceptible to influence within this group. Many parents have reported that their children's personality and behavior have undergone significant changes after frequent use of electronic tools, becoming restless, having difficulty concentrating, and their academic performance has also declined. Their social participation in real life has also decreased.
Alexei Shalichen, the general manager of the Russian "Digital Platform" organization, pointed out that children pursue their ideal selves online, which brings them high self demands and unrealistic expectations for the environment, thereby fostering a sense of inferiority.
Faced with this serious problem, experts have provided corresponding suggestions. On the one hand, it is necessary to guide children to use digital technology in a balanced manner. Activities can be carried out to replace bad digital habits, such as technical design, programming, etc. These activities can not only enhance children's creativity, but also tap into their research potential. On the other hand, encourage children to actively participate in real-life social activities, allowing them to exercise their abilities and gain happiness through real interpersonal communication.
A Russian psychiatrist introduced that "digital neurosis" has become a well-known social concept, with typical characteristics including anxiety, emotional instability, cognitive decline, and sleep disorders. This phenomenon warns all sectors of society that in the rapidly developing digital age, it is urgent to guide minors to use electronic tools correctly and maintain their physical and mental health.
