On March 20th, CNBC reported that a document shows that a court recently issued a subpoena to Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, in connection with the lawsuit against him by the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). SEC  Accusing Musk of failing to timely disclose information about his large purchase of Twitter shares during the acquisition of social media platform X (formerly Twitter) as required.
Musk also serves as the CEO of SpaceX, the United States' space exploration technology company. According to the file attributes, the subpoena delivery personnel will deliver the subpoena to SpaceX's headquarters in Brownsville, Texas before March 14th. The delivery personnel stated that they were refused to receive the documents by three security personnel upon arrival. Eventually, they placed the documents on the ground and left. The security personnel took photos of him and his car.
Regarding this news, neither the US Securities and Exchange Commission nor Musk immediately responded to requests for comment.
According to reports from the British Broadcasting Corporation and other media outlets in January this year, the US Securities and Exchange Commission sued Musk, claiming that he acquired a large number of Twitter shares in early 2022, and as of March of that year, his holdings exceeded the 5% declaration line, but Musk did not disclose relevant information in a timely manner in accordance with the law. The US Securities and Exchange Commission believes that Musk's operation artificially lowered the stock price, causing him to pay at least $150 million less in the acquisition of Twitter. And Musk's lawyer insisted in a statement to the media that Musk was not at fault.
The subpoena incident has once again pushed Musk into the spotlight of public opinion. Whether he will respond to the subpoena in the future and how the case will develop are closely monitored by all sectors. This legal dispute may not only affect Musk personally, but also have implications for Tesla SpaceX  The company he is in charge of, as well as the future direction of social media platform X, may also have a chain reaction.
